I couldn’t stop a teardrop from falling from my eyes. His face crumpled, and he enveloped me in his arms as we sobbed into one another. “I know what you’re doing. I’m not stupid,” he scolded me, his voice thick with tears. “You’re leaving me.” “Oh, Dmitri, I am so sorry but I have to do this,” I said to him, tightening my hold on him. “I want you safe. I — I love you so much! I don’t want to see you get hurt because of me.” “Idiot! You are already hurting me,” he said, trying to say it in a teasing manner but failing miserably. “I love you too, Anima. I have loved you all my life,” he confessed then rained kisses all over my face. Gently, I cupped his face between my hands and kissed him softly on his lips. The kiss tasted salty from our tears, yet bittersweet with the emotion we both poured into it. My first kiss… and my last… from my beloved Dmitri. I felt my heart bleed when I ended it. I gently wiped away the tears from his cheeks. “Take care, my love,” I whispered to him. “Be safe. I will come back for you.” He turned his face to kiss my palm. His eyes begged at me. “You promise?” I knew if I’d had a soul of my own I would have pledged it to him at that moment of time. “I promise,” I said to him in earnest. “Now go. Felicia and Claude will keep you safe.” Holding onto his hand, I gently pushed him towards the portal. I watched as with tears falling down his face he mouthed ”I love you”’ one last time and ghosted through. Then finally, I felt him let go when he crossed over.   dreamweavers meme 5   Author Bio CC Ravanera C.C. hailed from the Philippines but now lives in England with her husband and two young boys.           "You keep telling me to trust my feelings." Kyrissa ran her finger along his lower lip. "Trust yours."
His mouth sought hers, the taste of her lips more exquisite than the finest wine. He drank her in, wanting more of her intoxicating apples and mint flavor, as well as the one that was just her. The one found only in her kiss. Burying his face in her hair, he pulled her closer, lips trailing down her neck and across her collarbone.
Pulling the fitted shirt from his jeans, her hands slid up his back and sides. Each touch on his skin left him burning. Reclaiming Kyrissa's mouth with his, Robert fumbled with the buttons on the front of his shirt, feeling her smile when she tried to help him, both of them making it worse.
"Damn it to hell," Robert broke the kiss, pushing up to his knees to rip the shirt open. The patter of buttons danced across the floor like rain.
"Robert!" Kyrissa laughed at his impulsive action.
"What good is money if I cannot afford to ruin a shirt?" He grinned. "Especially if it is for the right reasons." He'd ruin shirts every day if she would look at him the way she was now.
Kneeling in front of him, Kyrissa used her hands to push the shirt off his shoulders while her mouth trailed kisses along his chest. "You could have just pulled it over your head," she teased, fingers working to pull open the cuffs.
"I thought women expected displays like that," Robert fumbled, distracted by her hands and mouth. In his day, affairs were slower, more reserved. He enjoyed these times better. The women were bolder. More passionate.
"I could get that male bravado bullshit from any pickup in a bar." Her eyes devoured him. "I want you."
          "Good."

Weekend Warrior Monday #amwriting #Thanksgiving

The last week has been crazy! Hubby and I celebrated Thanksgiving with my dad, his wife and my half-sister. Beautiful meal and great conversation.

Then we returned home to get me and Mom ready to go to Utah to visit both of my sisters, their husbands, and my niece, who is also a budding writer. I've brought back the start of her book to critique, which I'm looking forward to.

Since Ogden Utah was almost exactly halfway between our current home in Colorado and our new home in Bend, Oregon, we decided to drive on. We'd loaded the Jeep with a lot of our art, which is always hard to stuff in a moving van. We took another peek at the new house, left the Jeep at our realtor's place, and she took us to the airport.

Then things got fun! Every 20 minutes, we'd get a text saying our plane to San Francisco was delayed by a short time. No problem, we had a 3.5 hour layover in SF. Well, that was slowly eaten away. But just as making the connection became impossible, we got another text saying the SF to Colorado Springs flight was delayed by four hours.

Not fun for poor hubby who was going to be waiting for us, then driving home after 3am, but at least we'd make it. Apparently, SF was flipping around runways and messing with all kinds of flights because that last text was a fake. Our flight to Colorado left right on time, while our plane was circling, waiting to land.

Someone told me there was a flight to Denver, but couldn't get me on it. I needed to wait in the Customer Service line. Great. It was a mile long and not moving. There were three people working it, then one left and never came back. So one of the others decided to go look for him and she never came back either. There must be a door to the Bermuda Triangle in the SF airport.

People in the line were laying on the floor sleeping. That's how little progress was being made. I left my mom in line and looked for someone else who could help. They all said CS was the only way. I went back to the line (which hadn't moved) and tried calling the number on the screen above the CS guy's head. It was no longer in service.

I got online and tried calling United. They said for an extra $150 they could book me on a flight the following day. Wow, so totally useful. I send my mom to the gate that I thought I'd heard the Denver flight was on. Luckily, before going that distance, she found someone at a gate who looked up the flight and said if we ran, we could make it.

The reason no one else seemed to know about that flight was because it should have gone out hours before. We ran. Plane was scheduled to leave at 9:10pm, we got to the gate at 9:02 with no documentation because my stupid United app decided to crap out. But they figured it out and got us on the plane in time to sit on the tarmac for another half hour. At least that gave me time to text my husband and figure out what time we'd get to Denver.

Home by 3am! Slept til 9 - which is a lot for me since we have horses to take care of. A couple more days of catching up on sleep. Now time to catch up with my critique group and pack!

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. Any crazy stories?

Author Interview with Emma Adams - Walking Shadow #ya #paranormal

Welcome to my interview with Emma Adams, author of Walking Shadow. First, a bit about the book.

When you have a connection to the Darkworld, nowhere is truly safe.

Ashlyn has found a new home in Blackstone, but when a spate of grave robberies across the country spark fears that someone is practicing illegal sorcery, she comes under the radar of the Venantium, the protectors of the Barrier between her world and the Darkworld, who are suspicious of any sorcerer unaware of their origins.

The trouble is, what Ash does know might just get her killed.

Sufferers of the dangerous condition known as the vampire’s curse are being brutally killed, and the latest victim is Leo’s guardian, the ex-head of the Venantium. Ash determines to help Leo find out what’s really going on, but it isn’t long before events are spiralling out of control. The dead are rising from their graves, and the barriers around Blackstone are threatened by a demon which looks exactly like Ash herself…

Here's my interview (and keep reading for info on Emma's other books):

Where/how did you come up with the idea for your story? Did it suddenly pop into your head or were you brainstorming?

I thought of the idea of the demons years ago, for the first series I wrote, but there were problems with the story which meant it had to be shelved. But I really liked the demon mythology, and a couple of years later, came up with the idea of re-using it in a story set at a university!

Did you start with the main character, the world or the overarching concept?

I came up with the concept of demons/the Darkworld first, then the overall storyline.

Panster or Plotter? Or in between?

I'm more of a plotter, but I don't outline every single detail in advance. I spent years planning the first book I wrote, even going as far as to outline every scene on a spreadsheet – but when I finally started writing the book, it turned into something completely different. I still work from an outline, but I also like to be surprised when I’m writing – which tends to happen whether I like it or not!

Are you a fan of writing contests?

I've entered a few query contests and think they can be great for some writers, but I find them to be distracting from the actual writing process, and I prefer to query the traditional way. Total personal preference, of course!

What's the best marketing tool you've found so far?

I love newsletters. They're a great way to keep in touch with my readers and I love it when I receive replies from subscribers keen to read my next book.

What do you like best about your mc?

I like how Ash attempts to rationalize all the crazy things happening to her, at least at first, and doesn't instantly buy into the idea of magic as real. She's naturally sceptical of the idea of the Darkworld, and it takes time for her to understand her powers.

What do you like best about your main antagonist?

I like how the demons aren't even remotely human. They don't have or understand emotions, and they kill people because it's natural to them as breathing is to humans. Creepy!

Anything else you like to share about your journey or your upcoming launch, including links to giveaways or ways people can help spread the word?

I'm hosting a Facebook party with guest authors, prizes and discussions! :) https://www.facebook.com/events/340212519481922/

And here's more information on the first in the series, Darkness Watching  (Darkworld #1)

Eighteen-year-old Ashlyn is one interview away from her future when she first sees the demons. She thinks she's losing her mind, but the truth is far more frightening: she can see into the Darkworld, the home of spirits– and the darkness is staring back.

Desperate to escape the demons, Ash accepts a place at a university in the small town of Blackstone  - little knowing that it isn't coincidence that led her there but the pull of the Venantium, the sorcerers who maintain the barrier keeping demons from crossing from the Darkworld into our own world.

All-night parties, new friendships and a life without rules or limits are all part of the package of student life - but demons never give up, and their focus on Ash has attracted the attention of every sorcerer in the area. Ash is soon caught between her new life and a group of other students with a connection to the Darkworld, who could offer the answers she's looking for. The demons want something from her, and someone is determined to kill her before she can find out what it is.

In a world where darkness lurks beneath the surface, not everyone is what they appear to be...

https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/images/cleardot.gifFear's Touch: A Darkworld Novella is also available now!

This is a standalone novella, intended as a prequel to the Darkworld series. As it takes place one year before the events of Darkness Watching, it doesn’t contain any spoilers (although it does hint at things which will come into play later in the series).

Freakish powers and staring demon eyes aren’t part of Claudia’s plans for the future – and neither is ending up stuck at the gloomy, isolated University of Blackstone. But bad life decisions are the least of her problems, when a split-second decision to help out another magic-user puts her in the crossfire of both the shadow-beasts and the creepy organisation which hunt them down.

Claudia’s never had to worry about making the right choice before, but every decision matters when you have a Darkworld connection. Soon, she’s going to have to make a choice: turn her back on the crazy and try to live a normal life, or take the monsters down.

But in a world where everyone seems to have secrets, can she really trust her fellow magic-users – or even herself?

Emma spent her childhood creating imaginary worlds to compensate for a disappointingly average reality, so it was probably inevitable that she ended up writing bizarre, fantastical stories. She was born in Birmingham, UK, which she fled at the first opportunity to study English Literature at Lancaster University. In her three years at Lancaster, she hiked up mountains, skydived in Australia, and endured a traumatic episode involving a swarm of bees in the Costa Rican jungle. She also entertained her creative writing group and baffled her tutors by submitting strange fantasy tales featuring dragons and supernatural monsters to workshops. These included her first publication, a rather bleak dystopian piece, and a disturbing story about a homicidal duck (which she hopes will never see the light of day).

Now a reluctant graduate, Emma refuses to settle down and be normal. When not embarking on wild excursions, she edits and proofreads novels for various publishing houses and reads an insane number of books. At the age of 21, she signed a publishing contract with Curiosity Quills Press for the first book in her creepy urban fantasy Darkworld series. DARKNESS WATCHING was published in October 2013, the first in a five-book series.
Emma’s books tend to contain monsters, magic, and wildly inappropriate humour.

Synopsis -

Aliana Fagan has done what many thought impossible: she’s awakened King Arthur from his fifteen-hundred-year sleep, reunited the Knights of the Round Table, and even beaten Mordrid and Morgana LeFay in battle.
But the Destined One’s quest has only begun.
Before the knights can "unearth and reclaim their lost relics" they must survive the trip to Charleston, South Carolina and meet the newest member of the Round Table. If King Arthur’s men thought Aliana and Lacy were tenacious, they'll be even more surprised by Dawn, the third member of the fem-trio.
Deadly secrets, unexpected allies, and a traitor lurking in the shadows await Aliana and the new Round Table as they continue their search for Excalibur. Their only clue is a beyond confusing poem from a mysterious book that speaks of a terrifying creature guarding the legendary sword. Trying to build a somewhat normal relationship with Sir Galahad adds a whole new level of complexity to Aliana’s task, especially when several among them suspect the White Knight may not be wholly himself. Her friendship with King Arthur grows closer, and when circumstances become intense, he may finally get the chance with Aliana that he’s been pining for.
Mysteries, legendary quests, and haunting memories will either unite the members of the New Round Table or fracture their bonds. Aliana and her crew only have seven months before the planets align and Mordrid can seize the power he needs to conquer the seven realms. Can the Destined One keep her new family together and lead Arthur to his destiny of saving the realms? Or will a centuries-old plot for revenge finally spell the king’s end?

excerpt-

“Being back is hard for you.” Aliana nearly smacked into the doorframe when Galahad placed his large hands on her tense shoulders.
“You scared me!” she said, placing her hand over her heart.
“I though you would have heard me coming.” His warm hands massaged her tight shoulders. “But you seem lost in another world.”
Leaning into his touch, she shook her head. “I was just thinking.”
Galahad sighed deeply, his hands squeezing her shoulders before turning her to face him. “I understand how you’re feeling right now. My parents were murdered when I was young.”
Aliana looked into his blue eyes, surprised. “You never told me that.”
“Sir Belvoir and his men found us just after it happened. He raised me as his own, trained me to be a knight.” His hand rubbed light circles on her back.
“I was just remembering how things used to be,” Aliana confessed, hoping that sharing some of her pain would help lessen it.
“Why were you looking through your father’s things before you came to London?”
Aliana turned in Galahad’s arms, leaning her back against his chest. She studied the office until she found her voice. “I was in New Orleans working on a photo commission several months ago. I was walking the French Quarter when I came to a fortuneteller’s stand. I took a few pictures, and she called me over. I thought she was going to be upset with me, but she sat me down at her table. ‘You feet mus’ be achin’ after running so hard, chère,’ she told me. ‘Folks thinkin’ the’ can run from de past and they ghosts never find peace’.”
Aliana laid her hands over Galahad’s, remembering the feel of the woman’s cracked, dry hand on top of hers and the smell of sweet tea on the woman’s breath. “I tried to ignore her, but she kept insisting that I needed to stop running and face what was haunting me. She said I’d never again know what a real life ‘filled with love, happiness, and adventure’ felt like until I faced my past. It took me another two weeks before I came home.”
Galahad hugged her tighter, his chin resting on her shoulder, silently supporting her. “When you returned home you discovered your adoption.”
Aliana nodded, turning her face toward his. “I guess she was right. I never would have been in London if she hadn’t pushed me to come home. I never would have been in Avalon’s forest, and I never would’ve found you or Dagg or Arthur.”
“Do you regret it?” Galahad asked, a worried kind of seriousness in his eyes.

Book #1 Legendary

Blurb
Before the darkest hour strikes the Destined One shall come forth

Avalon’s lost daughter must thrice and alone prove her worth
Then can she fully possess the power to awaken the King
It shall become her destiny to reunite the Round Table
Unearth and reclaim their lost relics
Become the key to undoing the evil Mordrid has wrought
Only with her can the Once and Future King prevail

Aliana Fagan spent her childhood traveling the world, dreaming of legendary heroes and mythical lands. But after the sudden death of her parents, she hides behind the safety of her camera and her art until a vivid recurring dream compels her to dig into her father’s research about Avalon and Camelot. When she is hurled into a magical realm by forces she thought were only the stuff of fairy tales, she finds herself thrown into an adventure she could never have imagined. Nearly everything she thought she knew about Arthurian legend was wrong.

The independent eighteen-year-old is shocked to find that the people of Avalon think that she is the Destined One, the only person who can summon King Arthur back to life from his hidden chamber. Most surprising of all is that it’s up to her to lead the Knights of the Round Table on an epic quest–an adventure that will transport them across the seven magic realms to reclaim all that has been lost so they can defeat the evil Mordrid for good. But first, she must bring the ancient warriors into her world and reunite them with their lost brothers. Chaperoning the legendary knights-with-a-chivalry-complex as they navigate the modern world is a constant challenge, and she certainly never thought she’d be caught between her intense feelings for the noble Sir Galahad and her growing friendship with the King.

To fulfill the prophecy, Aliana will have to discover the meaning of friendship, bravery, loyalty, true love, and forgiveness. But can she do it all in time to save the realms from Mordrid’s impending Armageddon?

Author Bio-

I am a seasoned Pastry Chef in our nation’s capital and a lifelong fairytale (Disney and Grimm) lover, believes in love at first sight, is addicted to 80’s & 90’s cartoons and anything that can capture my ADD-way-to-overactive-imagination. Joan Lowery Nixon and L.J. Smith were the first authors I became addicted to and who inspired me to steal away whenever I could to read and write. You can keep up with me, and all my news and adventures on Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, Blogger and Legendary Saga website.

JUST A LITTLE MORE ABOUT MY SERIES:
Legendary is a story I've had in head for years. The idea came to me during an english project about you guessed it- Arthurian legends. My teacher was against web research and allowed us to use textbooks only. I discovered different ways to spell the characters names, including Mordred. There are five spelling variations that I found, and I chose to use one that is much less known: Mordrid. Other names I kept the same, and some I changed for the sake of the story. My reason for changing the names and/or spellings is this: my Knights of the Round Table, their enemies and allies are very different from what people are used to. I don't want to offend Arthurian purists and the "Arthurian legend/history." Legendary is pure fiction, straight from my imagination. I took some liberties with the different stories and incarnations. I changed the things I didn't like to the way I wanted them to be. I changed things to make them my own creation and tell you a new story. Hence Legendry’s summary "everything she thought she knew about Arthurian legends was wrong."
