Today's grammar lesson is when to use commas between a list of adjectives. The rule is to put commas between coordinate adjective - but what is a coordinate adjective? They are adjectives that modify the same noun. If you can use "and" instead of the comma and it still makes sense, then the comma is appropriate.
Examples:
My gray, dappled horse is named Avashar Solitare. It could also read: My gray and dappled horse...
My gray endurance horse is named Avashar Solitare. It wouldn't make sense to say: My gray and endurance horse...

Our first ride this spring will be on Antelope Island - an island in the Great Salt Lake.
What animals have you had that start with A?
That is one gorgeous horse!!! She's so beautiful. And a great grammar lesson. :)
ReplyDeleteI've owned an... Abyssinian! Wonderful cats. So small and full of character.
Great start to the month! See you soon.

Abyssinians are gorgeous, so regal.
DeleteThat horse is beautiful. My best friend owns horses. I was sad to leave her and them behind when I moved. They were such magnificent creatures!

We have an A in our house, a Jungle Carpet Python called 'Arsenic' (it's a joke because he's not poisonous). Beautiful horse, thanks for sharing and good luck with the challenge.
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to sit at my computer with a big-ass snake wrapped around my neck. My cat, who currently occupies that spot, wouldn't be impressed.
DeleteMy mother has a welsh mountain pony whose nickname is ASBO. It's full name is Alexander, but ASBO is short for Anti-social behaviour order - a penalty to minor crimes here in the UK as he was a very naughty little foal :)

Love that! I had a mare I named FF Maya. Sometimes that stood for fleet-footed. Other times...not.
