Weekend Warrior Monday - house hunting

My husband and I are planning to move from Colorado to Oregon. Although we love our beautiful home near Canon City with fabulous year-round weather, we also like change, challenges, and projects.

On Wednesday, we got up at 3:45am to drive to Denver International Airport. We arrive an hour early, with plenty of time to get through security and to our flight. We were even sent to the fast lane through security - didn't have to remove shoes!

Then we find out my ticket name doesn't match my driver's license. Hubby used my middle name, which I go by. So back to ticketing, talking to one person then another and finally back to security. This time we have to go the long route which takes another 15 minutes. Then we miss the train to the concourse. When we finally get to the right concourse, we have five minutes to run through the entire length to the very last gate. The only reason they let us board is because a maintenance guy is on the plane fixing a seat so they haven't closed the door. On to Portland!

The flight from Portland to Bend is fun and beautiful. Then we meet our realtor and see the first house. It's a great property and the only one we expect to look at that we can easily afford, but because this is a new area to us, we plan to look at the rest of the possibles.

Day 2, the first house we look at is even better, and we find that the owner is willing to carry, so now we can afford this one too. We looked at a couple other properties that wouldn't work and decide to make an offer on this awesome property. We don't get back to the hotel until almost 11pm, but the offer is in.

For the trip home, we decide not to fly from Bend to Portland and then sit for a three hour layover when we can drive in three hours and see the gorgeous scenery. We also stopped at a seafood restaurant. More than we'd planned on spending, but it was near the airport and almost literally on the Columbia. Excellent food. A 2 hour flight, a 2.5 hour drive and back home to wait for an answer and start planning how much stuff we need to sell.

So clearly we have no patience! When I make up my mind, I want action now. How about you? Could you buy a second house without even listing your current house yet? Scary!

And even worse, now I'll have to decide who to root for, the Broncos or the Seahawks! Luckily I've always been a closet Seahawks fan since I was born in Olympia.
